John

Between saving his patient's lives Dr. John was able to come in and work on a little fun flying. It resulted in a worthy Birthday gift to himself!

Of all the things I have done; skydiving, riding motorcycles, base jumping -this one cuts the cake. Definitely something your average adrenaline junkie should try, although not as heart pounding, it still ranks up there in terms of awesomeness! Look Ma, I can fly! |

Matt
My solo was nothing short of extraordinary, the winds were calm, the weather was great and there were very little planes within the KTOA airspace (gathered from the very minimal radio communications). Rez had instructed me to do three take offs and landings, and gave me a few instructions, "the plane will be lighter and would want to take off faster without me in the right seat" and boy was he right. As I performed my take off run on runway 29R, the plane's performance was noticeably better. The take off was the easy part, I was now thinking to myself, "now all I have to do is land this thing".
On my final approach, I checked my list; gas is set for both tanks, wheels are down (they're permanently down on a c172), mixture full rich, and my seatbelt was fastened. I lined up on the runway and landed. I bounced a bit and missed the centerline but all in all, it was a great landing! I did a couple more take offs and landings, then parked it back to our spot. Rez was waiting for me at the tie-downs, but it didn't need an explanation -the smile on my face showed that I was ecstatic and am proud of what I had accomplished this day! |

Sarah
Sarah came in from abroad for the PSA accelerated program in sunny southern California. A week and a half later she was done with her first solo! Two more weeks to the checkride… UPDATE: Just over three weeks from the time she started, Sarah was able to pass her checkride and go back home with a new Private Pilot's license! It was great having her out with us and we hope to see her visit again for the two week IFR course. Keep it going Sarah!! |

I was surprised when Rez told me that I was going to fly solo with what I thought was a routine dual instruction session. I was excited, nervous and confident at the same time. I took the plane up in the pattern and performed three take offs and landings. This milestone in my aviation training is certainly one for the books!
